PERSONAL PROFILE

Dr. James Lunney has been the Member of Parliament for Nanaimo-Alberni since November 2000. In that time James has served in Parliament as Deputy Health Critic, as a member of the Standing Committees on Health, Fisheries and Oceans, Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, and National Defense. James is the past Vice-chair of the Canada-Taiwan Interparliamentary Group and the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide, as well as past chair of the Coastal parliamentarians.

James currently serves as Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development and Chair of the Canada-Israel Interparliamentary Group.

James was born and raised in Winnipeg; he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba (1972) and a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (Toronto - 1976).
James practiced a total of 24 years in Kitchener, Ontario and in Parksville on Vancouver Island. He has been an active member of his professional organizations as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and the church community.

James and his wife, Helen, have traveled extensively internationally; exploring the world, expanding experiences and a commitment to life long learning are part of the fabric of their lives.
